“Work is love made visible.” (Khalil Gibran)
Filled with wisdom, written in simple, poetic language, The Prophet is a book for all ages, which remains amazingly relevant to our times. This audiobook, narrated by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading, contains two full versions of The Prophet: Part One, with music by Stefan Frankenberger. Part Two, with our voices only.
After living in the city of Orphalese for 12 years, a prophet is about to board a ship which will carry him home. He is stopped by a seeress and the people of the city, who ask him for his insights into life.
The book is divided into chapters dealing with love, marriage, children, giving, eating and drinking, work, joy and sorrow, houses, clothes, buying and selling, crime and punishment, laws, freedom, reason and passion, pain, self-knowledge, teaching, friendship, talking, time, good and evil, prayer, pleasure, beauty, religion, and death.
The Prophet is a book of prose poetry written by Khalil Gibran. Originally published in 1923, it is now in the public domain. The Prophet has been translated into over 100 different languages, making it one of the most translated books in history, and it has never been out of print.

Reseñas de la Crítica
Listening to this masterful narration by Kate Reading and Michael Kramer is a solid choice for those wanting to enjoy Lebanese-American poet Kahlil Gibran's prose. The narrators share his wisdom for the ages in beautifully read phrases. Exhortations on marriage, justice, family, and politics are delivered as memorable aphorisms. In a deep baritone, Kramer takes on the words of the prophet from whom people ask advice. His authoritative and confident performance is balanced by Kate Reading's tender delivery of the chapters she reads. Listeners are folded into her firm yet loving maternal embrace. The production has two options for listening: one with musical interludes and one without. M.R. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2020, Portland, Maine [Published: APRIL 2020]
Part One has music.
Part Two is just the voices.
If you just want to listen to the text, you have the option to listen to the version with voices only.
Likewise, if you prefer to have time to meditate while listening to the music, you can skip the voices only version.

The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran is pure literary art, beautifully written as prose poetry it imparts to the reader important knoledge and advice for all the challenges one can face in his daily life. This book is a powerful example of how one person can change the lives of others by simply listening to their questions and trying to give the best answer, to the best of his abilities. Released almost 100 years ago, in 1923, The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran is very much relevant today!
Performed with talent, passion and reverence by this award-winning team of narrators, The Prophet is thought-provoking in each of its chapters. Kate serves as the storyteller and Michael is the voice of the main character, add to this a fantastic score of sublime, exotic music by Stefan Frankenberger and you'll get a masterpiece audio production.
Speaking of productions, this one includes two full versions of The Prophet. The first one is enriched by that beautiful music I told you about, while the second part is just the regular recording, no music, no pauses, no time to meditate on the special messages found in this magical story.
Kate and Michael are just perfect for The Prophet and their love for this medium is clearly visible from the first second of the recording to its last. I listened to both versions of The Prophet and I especially loved the first one, the one with the music and the smart pauses just right for meditation, for you to process the potentially life-changing info hidden on the page.
This is a masterpiece and everyone should experience it, at least once in their lifetime!

Epic Wisdom

This book was presented to us by the same narrators who brought us the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, The Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson, and hundreds of other wonderful audiobook narrations! As such, I was really anticipating the release of this audiobook performance of one of the greatest books of prose ever written. A book that so beautifully describes many messages that are relevant and important in today's society as much so as it was when the book was first written. There are so many important and awe inspiring messages found within, deciding what example to use is almost a fruitless endeavor. Although difficult, I chose the following passage as an example of what kind of wisdom is given in this three hours of listening pleasure.
“Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy. For if you bake bread with indifference, you bake a bitter bread that feeds but half man’s hunger. And if you grudge the crushing of the grapes, your grudge distills a poison in the wine. And if you sing though as angels, and love not the singing, you muffle man’s ears to the voices of the day and the voices of the night.”
I chose the passage above because it is truly relevant to this review. The narrators that performed this audiobook version of “The Prophet” did so in a way that proves to all who listen how passionate and how much Love they pour into their “Work” You can hear the emotion in their voices and I am truly stunned how poetically they impart the wisdom found within this gem! I highly recommend picking up this wonderful rendition of this book by two of the best Narrators in the business.
