There is so much emphasis today on the need to find our purpose in life through career, relationships, etc. in order to feel fulfilled.
It is refreshing to hear Dr. Hawkins begin this lecture by stating that our true purpose is really to transcend from our original animal nature, otherwise known as the ego, to the realization of Divinity. He then proceeds to guide us throughout this talk on how to allow the unfolding of this Truth. He explains our predicament: We have no idea where we came from, why we are here, who we are or where we are going. We are faced with the continuous uncertainty of life, everything we cling to is attacked and undermined by doubt and opposition within ourselves.
However, the Presence of God as Self is the source of one's own existence. Dr. Hawkins shows us how this can be realized through various ways of recontextualizing the ego and the willingness to surrender to God the payoff and addiction of distorting Reality. In addition, Dr. Hawkins beautifully explains how to awaken the true state of Joy and peace that is within through the process of surrender.
This lecture is chock-full of that which all need to hear!

One of the many important points that Dr. Hawkins stresses in this lecture is that in order to follow his Pathway of Devotional Non-Duality, your devotion to Truth has to be greater than the devotion to the payoff of being right. When this prevails, one is well on the way to Enlightenment. What keeps the ego in place? It is the pleasure it gets from its positionalities. The willingness to surrender the gratification and pleasure of the payoff of the ego's positions is the sacrifice. Dr. Hawkins also informs us that spiritual work is a lot easier that we think!

In this awe-inspiring lecture, Dr. Hawkins reveals that peace can't really be accomplished in the world, that it is an inner state. Peace and freedom are what you are and when you let go of trying to control things and give God advice, it puts you into a space where it's irrelevant. Dr. Hawkins explains that the intellect is really our problem, as it is very fast and takes credit for what happens and presumes to be the causal effect. If we can get beyond thinking in terms of a "this" causing a "that", then you don't need to make up a false explanation of why things happen.

The ego then begins to dissolve on its own through compassion and acceptance because when you shine light on darkness, the darkness begins to disappear.

Excellent Teaching on Devotion
I love everything Dr Hawkins. I appreciate these on the road talks for variety as they are a bit more casual and shorter than the workshops and books. This talk is great for me as I learn something new to apply each time I listen. I'm glad this has been made digitally available. It makes it convenient to "keep the field" near.
