She has also received a Guggenheim Fellowship, two National Endowment for the Arts fellowships and a Pushcart Prize. She lives in Oakland and can be visited at www.kimaddonizio.com.

Sesshu Foster has taught composition and literature in East Los Angeles for 20 years. His work has been published in The Oxford Anthology of Modern American Poetry and the XCP: Streetnotes journal. Foster is the author of City Terrace Field Manual and World Ball Notebook.

Engaging

I listened to this primary because Kim Addonizio was on the panel, and I was looking for spoken material from Kim. I've discovered two new poets to look up!

This was a thought provoking short panel discussion of what it means to be an 'engaged' writer.

surprisingly great

My only complaint is that this was not long enough! I wish they had gone on for a few more hours! not only were the poems and people moving, what these poets had to say on engagement, that moved beyond what I thought would be a cliched approach, was provocative as well as inspiring
