Alice Taylor's parish, like others in rural Ireland today, faces many challenges. This world, although dedicated to the common good, is not without its conflicts. It is a story, too, of personal loss and grief - of the loss inflicted by death on both individuals and communities - but also of the consolation of a community coming together to share in their collective mourning. In a series of vignettes of life in her own village, Alice Taylor reasserts the priorities of public space and social community.
