Yara Ellis is a medical student hiding in a human university while she studies to become a doctor. Unlike most doctors, Yara is majoring in both human medicine and veterinary medicine while minoring in zoology. Since the packs are constantly at war, she knows that there are never enough doctors to help injured pack members. She’s been on her own for several years, escaping from her previous pack and making her own way in the world, hoping to one day return to her roots and become the premier doctor of the packs.

Warren Hill is an Alpha, caught up in the constant wars that abound between the packs and the never-ending battles. He’s a young Alpha, strong and powerful, but because of the constant fighting between the packs, he’s never been able to find his mate.

One day, when Yara is out letting her wolf run, she comes across Alpha Warren, who is caught in a bear trap. She’s heard of this, packs leaving traps so that members of other packs get caught and either die a slow death or are easily killed.

Warren is in his wolf form, unable to shift without ripping his leg off. Yara carefully springs the trap, releasing him from his metal prison. However, Warren recognizes her as his mate, and when his pack arrives, he’s unwilling to leave her behind.

Yara doesn’t want to return to Warren’s pack but is unable to fight against the Alpha. When she hears that the one who desperately wants her, the one she ran to get away from, is now Alpha of his pack, she realizes that the safest place for her might be with Alpha Warren, even if he is her mate and even if he is unwilling to ever let her go.

The Doctor takes over

This was a fun story. Had some laughs and tears but mostly just a great story. Highly recommend!

No more AI narrations

The story over all was a good one but the computer voice made it very difficult to listen to with zero inflection. Please bring back human narrators.

Read by an AI - it’s awful! Audible says no return

If you like your reviews to have female voices you can’t tell the difference between, and the same with male voices, then this book might be for you. It’s hard for me to even enjoy the story because I don’t know which character is talking when. There is little to no difference in the female voices. There is no explanation as to which person is speaking.

It’s so bad I cannot enjoy the book. I wanted to return it as I’ve been an Audible member since 2010, but apparently you can no longer return books unless you’ve purchased them with a credit. I’ve learned my lesson! No more AI readers!

I have to wonder if the author was in charge of making this decision to have AI machine narrate the story. If so, I don’t know that I would trust the author again either.

Loved the story but the virtual narration is horrible and ruins it

Such a shame I really enjoyed the story it is well written, but the robotic, unemotional narration ruins it. The computer does not read emotions correctly. Where the tone should be angry or romantic the computer reads as surprised or some other unmatched emotion. Not to mention it mispronounces words. Between that and the mismatched emotions and reading rhythm it makes it hard to understand what it’s saying at some points. Thinking about asking for a refund it was that bad.

The story was decent

The use of the AI narrators was awful. Mispronounced words, terrible inflection and stilted conversations. Pay people to read the books. AI sucks.
