The Opportunist

In 1903, Rose Harsent, a maid of all work at Providence House, Peasenhall, Suffolk, was stabbed to death and her throat slit from ear to ear. A local pastor, suspected of being the father of her unborn child, was arrested and tried twice for the murder, acquitted both times by a hung jury. No other suspect was ever found, until the Spittlefields orphans and their friends took on the case.
