Resumen del Editor

With a bike, a turbo trainer, and the right advice, you can beat anyone.

No one but Graeme Obree has the clarity of vision to get to the heart of the "problem" of how to improve as a racing cyclist. His innovative approach took him to the top of world cycling, twice breaking the world hour record - a story picked up in his Hollywood biopic The Flying Scotsman. It can draw the same outstanding athletic performance from you.

The Obree Way sidesteps conventional wisdom and strips cycling back to its elements, always asking the question: "What actually improves my race time?" This is no routine training program. Written in a conversational style, the book explains Graeme Obree’s radical insights into technique, training, psychology, and diet, and the clear logic behind them.

At last, the best kept secret in cycling, the Obree three-phase breathing technique, is revealed in detail, getting more oxygen to your blood with less effort. Graeme Obree’s training methods really work - the man is living proof. He believes that resting is key to training, that you can pedal, stretch, and breathe more effectively and that, if you really want it, you can find the will and intensity to improve. Get on your bike!

Great book.

Great advice and tips from a great cyclists. I was hoping for more on his life and training and less on nutrition. But very pleased with the book.

Above and Beyond Me

This is a comprehensive cycling book for high level cyclists, one of which I am not. Its very well thought out and would be of great value for someone wishing to race at a high level and devote a tremendous amount of time and energy to cycling. But for me, a "recovering" runner new to cycling, this book offered few tips..

Save yourself... this is dated and blah

I am the type of person who will finish a bad movie because I keep hoping there's going to be a surprise ending that will bring everything together and reward me for my perseverance. I will finish a book or audiobook because there may be that *1 piece of information in it* that will lead me to the next big discovery! Yes, I'm an optimist.

Sometimes you're rewarded for this, other times you waste time. This book for me was one of wasted time.

If you have the internet and are even remotely interested in cycling, you are already aware of everything in this book. It would have been a thought provoking and innovative book in 2005, but not now for most cyclists. A few of the potentially innovative things contained in here, his breathing technique and his ideas on constant chain oiling are worthy of more research but that's about it. Otherwise, some of the longest discussions (such as the accuracy of turbo trainers) have long been fixed through technology and aren't even an issue. This is one man's story about the things he figured out on his own to maximize his craft. There is very little information contained that will be novel to someone post 2015.

Interesting book, just not a good audiobook

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

It was a good book, just short of details and lacking a link to a pdf file or video on the techniques outlined. He mentions a pedaling technique and breathing technique but having a short video we could watch would answer all the questions I have. Similarly the author does not offer suggestions on turbo trainers he might recommend you buy. Overall it's just lacking information that would have been easy to include with a pdf link or several videos.
