Over the course of the twentieth century, the families intersect, interact, and intermarry, grappling with secrets and prejudices that span generations, opening new wounds and reckoning with old ghosts.

Pitch Perfect Downeast Maine

I so loved this book. The narrators were wonderful and the characters felt very real. If you like Olive Kitteridge, you will adore this!

Hilariously depressing

Mark Bramhall nailed the Maine "Downeast" accent. As a 63 year old native of Maine, I have known many people like the characters in Winslow's book. However, not everyone in Maine lives by the Saturday night pot luck suppers at the local grange hall. It was amusing and sad to read, but very well done.
