To anyone seeing him late at night as he walked the dark streets, muffled in an enveloping hoodie and baggy clothes, they merely assumed he was walking his dog, so they took no notice.
Except someone did notice, one of his neighbours in their apartment block, and she was consumed with curiosity about the mysterious dog walker. She wondered what he looked like, where he went all night, every night, and also why he limped. She thought he was probably up to no good, and that explained why he was so reclusive and never spoke to anyone, including her.
Meanwhile, Carrie had a different, more serious distraction. A stalker. She couldn’t prove it, it was just intuition, but she was convinced someone sometimes followed her when she went out, or even entered her apartment when she wasn’t there. Who it could be, why, or how they were getting in, she’d no idea; except she just knew, and it was giving her the creeps. She wondered if it could be one of her neighbours, and top of her list was the weird loner who lived on the sixth floor.
She was a workaholic, had no family, a man in her life, or a close friend to confide in who wouldn’t laugh at her suspicions, and she doubted the police would take her seriously without any proof. Cleo, her precious little dog, was her only companion.
And then one morning, she found an anonymous letter in her mailbox, and it frightened the life out of her….
