Resumen del Editor

They live in the big houses on the pretty street. Those other women, as we call them. And to think I used to want to be like them, to have their money and happiness, to live and laugh and play like them. Not any more.

It’s the fourth of July and the whole town is gathered at the local pool. Through the sweltering afternoon, we single mothers don’t mix with the other women - the ones with the perfect lives and happy marriages. Women like Sabine Miller. But when Sabine shoots me a desperate look across the water and suddenly disappears, my blood runs cold....

Running to the back gate, all I find is a gold charm bracelet she dropped on her way out. I convince myself I’m imagining things until Sabine’s husband, Mark, appears. When he realizes she’s missing, he phones the cops straight away. “Someone has been threatening Sabine,” he says. “Now they’ve kidnapped her.”

Hours later, I wish I’d run faster. The whole town is searching the streets, calling Sabine’s name over and over. On the TV, Mark is begging for someone to bring his wife home.

The truth is, I was the last person to see her alive - and it’s killing me inside. Now the cops are at my door asking questions. I’m terrified they’ll find out what happened years ago between me and Sabine. Something I’ve never told anyone.

But I need to tell someone. Can you keep a secret?

From best-selling author Georgina Cross, the most exciting new voice in suspense, comes a twisted psychological thriller about the power and damage of secrets behind closed doors. Perfect for anyone who was totally hooked by The Wife Between Us, Big Little Lies, or Gone Girl.

The last 2 hours ...

It was ok..... but the dialogue in the last 2 hours is painful!

That being said, I don’t prefer to listen to accents and I’ve gone through 300+ mysteries in Audible. I’m running a bit low, so it is what it is.

Slow start, abrupt end

It took me too long to get into the book. You start with what might look to be a great story, but then it drags. So much of the first half is just details without my of a storyline. Then a story line erupts and your taken on this twists that don’t seem to match up with the slow start. Overall second half was better and but then for all the build up, it just ends. It seems like the author just got tired of these characters and cut the story. Narrator had great moments and then moments of sheer “what the heck is that voice?”

Another so so

Not sure what's going on with these books. Not much of a mystery, no in depth characters. Not about a group of women friends. First half of book is nothing but repeating and going nowhere.

Edit the title!

Is "The Missing Woman: Utterly Gripping Psychological Suspense with Heart-Thumping Twists" the title or an advert? The cover says, "The Missing Woman" - it'd be less obviously a sales pitch if the library title were edited to match the cover. As for the story, the opening chapters take too long to get rolling - I just didn't sense the excitement mentioned in the pitch and why the pitch needs to be deleted from the library title, because the story might not be able to deliver the build-up it's promising..

Wow, what a book! Don't miss out!

This was different from the thrillers I normally read but different in a good way. I felt like I was watching a movie as everything played out between Sabine, Erica, Mark and Tish. There were several twists, one in fact will likely make you go back and re-read the passage to make sure you read correctly. The book is very fast-paced and it grabbed and held my attention from beginning to end. I don't know why this book is getting negative reviews but please ignore them and grab a copy. You won't regret it.

Worst Narrator EVER

I listen to about 3 audible books a month. This is my first scathing review. I was FLOORED by how terrible the narrator is. She emphasized bizarre words in sentences and had the absolute worst voices for characters. The book is good - if you can get past the atrocious reading of it. I wish I had this book in a paper copy so I could have read it myself and bypassed the narrator. I’m sorry but I just can’t imagine the author listening to this and approving that narration... it’s THAT bad.

Disappointed

I struggled to finish this book. It seemed there were more details than story. By the time it got to the end I really didn't care how it ended. The narrator was a little over the top for me.

Overly dramatic and far fetched

I laughed a couple times, but not because it was meant to be funny. I didn't enjoy the style or way the story was told at all. The perspectives do not line up for the main character. I bet the narrator is very good at sorry telling, but that, too, was over dramatic for me. I did listen to the whole thing, all the way to the abrupt end. I would not say it's super suspenseful, it's predictable. I do appreciate that it is not full of cuss words and sexual content.
