Mark Alexander ruined everything—just by being born.

On Apollo, every island fought its own shadow war.
Patton Armory sold all the weapons—to both sides.

At fourteen, Mark inherited the company—and the enemies that came with it. Raised alone in the wilderness, he must learn to survive a world he doesn’t understand. Targeted by assassins. Betrayed by friends. Mark must evolve—or die.

Book One of The Misbegotten Empire Series: a political sci-fi thriller where power is inherited, innocence is weaponized, and survival has a cost.

I gave it a try, but just couldn’t finish. At first it was the flat narration. I looked back to find that it’s computer generated. There are some ai narration schemes that are effective. This ain’t one of those. It seemed to be a low rent cousin.

The writer might be computer generated too. The characters are lifeless. The kid is a dead fish. Did he have sex with those girls? If he did or did not would have been a least mentioned. If I had woken up drunk in bed with two girls I would have said something. The vague plot was on a cookie cutter course where nothing clever happened. The plan to steal the company needed a clear antagonist to make it a thriller. The Blackwood guy was a blowhard and a jerk sending in mercenaries. Then some other guy comes to take the kid away. None of the characters dynamic enough to keep the names straight.

Hard to care about any of the characters
