One of the more remarkable sub-genres in Mexican cinema is the horror western. Frequently lensed on limited budgets and tied to a number of genre cliches, these productions occasionally overcame their budgetary limitations to provide distinctly unique images and memorable action. Many infused their suspense with mysterious heroes, improbable creatures, and occasional unexpected musical numbers. Yet, they remain entertaining despite budgetary constraints and the liberal use of cliches and improbabilities.
