Great book, not a fan of narration

Love this book but not a fan of the narration. I'm not sure I would buy another book he narrated.

Amazing narrator for about 95% of the book

While highly overblown, the top ratings( that say that the narrator does not change for different characters) do make a point. For all the parts with the main character the narrator does a fantastic job. However in all the NASA interludes he uses the exact same voice tone and even inflection as the main character. While normally not that big of deal, the fact that there is another version where it does a much better job in those sections definitely lowers the rating. It is still a great narration and highly recommend buying.

To those wondering, that is the narration by R.C. Bray and the reason seems to be a disagreement between publishers. Author owns book, another publisher owns the recording of RC, author sold to Amazon, amazon tried to buy recording, that failed, amazon tried to get original author, but that negotiation failed as well. Ah, yes. Since amazon owns the martian or has exclusivity on it (idk which one) the other publisher can't sell it's recording. Soo congratulations on those that have it. You just have a rare limited addition version of the audiobook!

The movie was great. The book, so much better.

I fell in love with the movie The Martian. Great story, but more importantly, great story telling. So naturally, when I saw the book in my recommended list, I decided to give it a try. The book turned out to be so much better than the movie. Of course, movies often have to edit the story for time constraints. This story, as told from the book, is so much richer and detailed. Great listen!

I couldn't put it down

Wil takes even some of the greatest books out there and makes them 10 times better. The book itself is phenomenal. This is a classic story of why it's good to be smart when things go wrong, and also how being a smart Alec can really boost your own morale. There is a lot of science talk in the book, but that's not a bad thing. I'm sure you will find yourself saying "YAY PLAN!" after you've read it.

Out of this world :)

Kept me captivated from the beginning to the end. Good characters, great narration (what do you expect from Wil Wheaton).
Recommended but beware, you may not want to put it down so you might want to start it over the weekend.

Great book! Best narrator ever!

So much science "geekery!" But what really made this enjoyable for me was the humor (SO many LOL moments!) This narrator did the best job of any book I've heard through audible. Good job!

WOW. AMAZING!

Will Wheaton did a MARVELOUS job with this. His reading was captivating and engaging. I have read the physical copy and I loved it but I cried many times just by the emotion that Will envoked in this reading. such a great piece of literature read by such an amazing narrator. :)

will is a beast

the novel was great. Will was better. might have to hear it again. Thank you Mr. Wier for the story. and thank you Mr. Wheaton for the wonderful narration.

Adjust speed to .9 helps narration!

I only just started this book; it’s great so far but I agree with others the narration is irritating. Wheaton’s take on the protagonist is dripping with sarcasm even at times where that’s not clearly the intended tone and he speaks quickly like he’s reading to himself. I’ve found slowing the speed slightly to .9 helps a little!

Incredible story, great narration and really good pacing between the different atmospheres. Definitely worth a credit
