A celebrity wedding planner on the brink of bankruptcy gets a second chance at first love - or saving her business - when her billionaire ex returns.

She’s always the wedding planner, never a bride.

Second-generation event planner Elliot Lynch has helped Charleston, South Carolina’s elite tie the knot since she was in diapers. When her father botches the books and the bank comes after their business and home, she’ll do anything to save both.

She’s in for a bigger shock when her ex reappears. While her family said Eric wasn’t good enough for her a decade ago, he’s now a billionaire holding the purse strings to a wedding that could put them back in the black. Though he still has a chip on his shoulder, the chemistry between them is undeniable.

With a meddling family and a series of wedding disasters to manage, Elliot will either get her piece of the cake - and eat it, too - or lose everything she loves.

From the award-winning author of Playing House and Counting on You, The Marrying Type is romantic women’s fiction full of heart and laugh-out-loud moments about the power of giving second chances, overcoming heartache, and learning to stand on your own

This is the perfect light fun enjoyable listen when you need a good diversion. The characters are believable and the story is engaging, witty, and romantic. The story weaves nicely around family conflicts and disagreements while allowing the romance to shine through. Truly, a sweet romantic listen. 😊

The narrator has a very pleasant voice and she did a nice job with this book. 😸

Enjoyable, Fun Story

I love JAFF but rarely I find any that I enjoy based on anything other than P&P. This author did a great job with modernizing Persuasion.

I hope more Persuasion-based JAFF is released on Audible soon.

Really Enjoyable

Would you listen to The Marrying Type again? Why?

Yes! This has quickly become a favorite in the second chance romance category of my books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Elliot. I loved her determination but also how relatable she is in so many ways.

Which scene was your favorite?

I laughed at the bachelorette party... hello officer. But I really liked the slow bloom of a romance rekindled between Elliot and Eric.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Rematched romance.

Any additional comments?

This story was slightly different than I expected. While there were some conflicts, some unappealing characters and so drama rich moments, they were never over the top or too angsty. The rekindled romance had a slow burn but remains PG, and I felt could do for a little more steam, but is a sweet contemporary romance over all. I received this audiobook for free from audiobook boom for my unbiased review.

This is a great book written by Laura Chapman and narrated by Emily Lawrence. Always the wedding planner, never a bride, Elliot Lynch is famous for orchestrating the splashiest weddings in Charleston, South Carolina. When her father's sloppy management practices leave them on the brink of bankruptcy, Elliot will do whatever it takes to save the family business. When asked to appear on 'The Marrying Type', a reality TV show about the people behind the scenes as couples exchange I dos, she says yes to the invasion of privacy. With a camera crew capturing every detail of her life, Elliot faces her most challenging contract yet: planning a wedding where her ex is involved in every part of the process. Add in a lazy assistant, liquor-loving bridesmaid, and rival planner encroaching on her turf, and Elliot's wedding season goes from high-end to high-stress.

The narrator Emily Lawrence did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.
