The How-To Guide for Creating an Ideal Marriage – for LIFE!

Making Marriage Work After the Honeymoon!

Any Marriage Can Improve. In this book you will learn five simple and powerful principles that can transform a marriage into a satisfying and healthy relationship that lasts a lifetime. Each of these principles is matched to Reinforcing Actions that help the reader put those principles into practice in a fun way. Almost any marriage can become an ideal one IF the spouses really want it, and work for it by applying a few key principles that are presented in this book. It’s not complicated, and not all that hard. But it does require both desire and effort.

The material is presented in an easy-to-read style, without psycho-fluff or weak, feel-good talk. It's actionable, practical, and important. You and your spouse don't need to be perfect to have an ideal marriage. It’s something literally any couple can understand and put into action.

This Book Was Written for:

* Those who have a pretty good marriage and want it to be even better.

* Those who have some struggles or conflicts in their marriage, and want to save and improve it.

* Those not currently married who want to learn how to establish an ideal marriage for when that time comes.

* Those who know someone in an unhappy marriage, and would like to help.

Help Your Children by Making Yours an Ideal Marriage

Strong and happy marriages are the foundation of families, and of society in general. Children are richly blessed when they see the example of their parents who love and respect each other, and work together to bring happiness and security into the home. Children who grow up in such a home will likely model those positive actions when they marry and form their own families.

I was excited to listen to this book with my husband. We listened a couple of times together, but I was much more engaged and ended up finishing it on my own.

The story follows a couple who goes on a cruise. An imperfect couple — definitely relatable. They end up meeting another couple who were a excited to share their own tips for a successful marriage. This story set up makes it easy to follow without drowning in information.

Throughout the book there are different exercises for self analysis. One of the things I most appreciated about the book is how the why is always very clearly outlined. As in, the author always states, “Why is this important?” And then immediately cuts to the chase.

A couple of my own takeaways that have stuck with me weeks after reading: give the gifts that matter the most and find a uncover a common interest.

Gifts: This section just logically makes so much sense to me. Pareto’s 80/20 principal. If you take time to really think about what your spouse would appreciate receiving you can save yourself a lot of time, energy, and disappointment! I chose ONE example the book gave and it has made all the difference. I think I always knew it deep down, but the book’s encouragement pushed me to act.

Common interest: The author helped me to realize this is not something that always just falls into your lap. It may take discovering your own interests and then making a practical plan to act. The closest I’ve felt to my husband is when we trained for a marathon together. (Although it took this book to realize it was the camaraderie that made the difference and not the actual activity.) While there are some interests we have that might have to wait until our kids don’t demand so much of our time, I realize that the bond is way more important (at least for me) than the work it takes to make it happen.

I’m happy I came across this book and plan on rereading it in the future. I’m curious to see if my takeaways will be different. I’m hoping I can master these two principals and move on to the others!
