Resumen del Editor

Can the man who never was catch the criminals who never get caught?

John Milton is used to operating in the shadows, weaving his way through dangerous places behind a fake identity. Now, to avenge the death of a close friend, he must wear his mask of deception once more.

Beau Baxter was brutally murdered by a drugs cartel, but that doesn’t stop Milton from blaming himself for his friend’s death. With the help of a trusted team of undercover experts and Beau’s son, Milton is determined to track down the killers. And he isn't just after the man who gave the order. He’s heading right for the top.

Milton plans to follow the trail of cocaine from the nightclubs of Amsterdam all the way to its source in Colombia. Disguised as an ambitious buyer, he’s prepared to work his way up the cartel hierarchy one rung at a time. But the ladder can be slippery, and as Milton travels deeper into a world of violence, ruthlessness and greed, he finds himself in a jungle that could prove impossible to escape.

Another winner!

These John Milton books just keep better and better as Mark Dawson adds more rich layers to his characters.

The band is back together!

John Milton, Alex Hicks, Ziggy Penn, Chase Baxter and Ellie Flowers, all in one story? Awesome! Some of the narration made me cringe, though. Many of the American accents sounded like Jewish people from Brooklyn. I also laughred every time I heard the phrase, "Meester Smithhhh".

Maybe it’s just me?

I’ve listened to 10 of Mark Dawson audiobooks. I’ve rated them all 5 stars. Great narrator. BUT in this latest book two things caused me to downgrade my ratings. 1) the story is to convoluted with M-15, Milton’s old group going against a group of ex M-15 employees. Then Milton involving himself in the mix on his own. One positive thing is the characters Ziggy which were familiar with from prey novels and a new character Could carry a novel on there own. Lastly for the decrease in my ratings is the narrator had so many voices to construct, some characters sounded the same including females that it was difficult identifying who was speaking. If your a Dawson/ Melton fan listen. But you have got to pay attention and stay sharp. I bought this one but wouldn’t do it again. Free yes!

Too implausible

Milton to the rescue with a lot of action. Is it justice or revenge? Milton and his team go after the head of a major drug organization. Dawson must be a conspiracy theorist with a big distrust of the US government. Unknown to Milton’s team, the target organization has secret supporters in the government. There is also a loose cannon in a different government organization that gets involved. Plenty of action.

Great book and wonderful narration..

This was a great part that started in book 15, and it still doesn't feel like it's finished. It was about John Milton going after the cartel. The ones that killed his friend. AND, even though, Group Fifteen was supposed to have been ended, it wasn't. And the new assassins aren't so trustworthy.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 17 times.

As for the narration: David Thorpe is simply wonderful..

As usual

Dawson continues his tour de force. I must say that the American
accent by thorpe is ludicrous but other than a laugh when i should be gasping, everything else is first rate.

Dawson finally gets it back together

After Mark Dawson's recent abortive foray into his ill-advised attempt in authoring mystery novels, he seems to have quickly learned from his errors and returned back to John Milton's land. The characters are phenomenal and David Thorpe has to be among the best of the best of all narrators. Every time one of the Mexican cartel bosses sounds off with, "Meeester Smith!" my wife and I crack up. We're not halfway through yet and at this point we think Mark Dawson might have been better advised to not make Group 15 the bad guys - thus veering off in the direction of many lesser spy authors who seem to love building plots that our governments are filled with the baddest of bad actors, all of whom are organized to create and control their own version of how the world should be. Don't start down that road, Mark. But other than that, and even though I'm not a fan of drug cartel novels - 5 x 5 here.
