Being a young Mafia boss was an enormous boost to a man's ego. Some men couldn't take the pressure and responsibilities. They were simply eliminated. Tony and I had our challenges. The Mafia had a way of making you feel like the family came first. The problem was that the feeling was temporary. It was a matter of time before there was payback. Payback was never the question. Who the victim is going to be is the question... There was a fine line defining who was family and who was foe. It could wear a man's soul thin.
