St. Thomas Aquinas said, "The Lord's Prayer [The 'Our Father'] is the most perfect pf prayers...In it we ask, not only the things we can rightly desire, but also in the sequence that they should be desired."
The popular Saint Augustine sums it up: "Run through all the words of the holy prayers [in Scripture], and I do not think you will find anything in them that is not contained and included in the Lord's Prayer."
Do you want protection from a Superpower who is mightier than Marvel’s Avengers or DC’s Justice League superheroes? Try praying the “Our Father”, the perfect prayer that Jesus taught His apostles. Every word counts when we say the Lord’s Prayer or “Our Father”. Praying the “Our Father” is like calling God’s number on our phones, and He’s the only one who answers even if He’s very busy! It’s just like wearing a helmet and body armor that is bullet proof, fire-proof or radiation-proof! Imagine, a protective gear that repels evil weapons! No superhero can give us that kind of protection! But do we have to repeat these words over and over again like a broken record? The next time you pray the “Our Father”, why not meditate on the meaning of each and every word? So that this time, when we say each word, we can prove to God that we mean every word that we say, and not just memorized words. God will surely answer our “call”. And when God answers our prayers and grants our petitions, does anyone of us ever say “Thank you” to God?
