Acerca de esta escucha
However, The Longest Night is more than one woman's journey. It weaves conversations with friends, family, and people in Lockerbie and London into an engaging audio experience.
The Longest Night is based upon Helen Engelhardt's memoir of the same name. It was directed by award winning audio book producer Jeffrey Hedquist. Recording and Sound Design by David Shinn.

So Tragic
I was booked to fly on this fight when I was 20 years old. My cousins surprise engagement saved my life and delayed my flight home to the US. I have an intense interest in anything related to Pan Am 103 for that reason.
This book is not well narrated but the story is interesting and gives you the other side of the survivor story.
Much love to Helen and her family.

We, the public, knew only half the story.
A very different perspective of a devastating event from the 20th century. Our author gives us a very personal perspective of how this disaster affective her life and that of her son.
I really enjoyed this book in so much that I listened to it in one session however there were a few things that I scratched my head at. I never could understand why her son kept referring to his Father by his first name seeing that he was his birth Father. Perhaps I missed that explanation.
I really felt that having the phone ringing and hearing so many other voices added so much but I really must admit that I got very bored listening to the long memorial service and the absolutely 'nightmarish' singing! However as for the remaining 90% of the book is was a winner for me and I would highly recommend it.

Ok story
While I feel for their loss, I got the feeling that Helen was very emotionally detached. She treats her son more like a friend than a child. I also was uneasy with the son using his father's first name all the time.
The book told me more about how the passengers and crew died. I knew the father of one of the flight attendants. I know there were many questions.
