Great Read

The Long Paw of the Law (Ashley Crane Mystery #1) was a great read by Laurie Anne Marie. Comfortville is a quaint little town nested in the Pacific Coast. Ashley Crane works tirelessly as a cook while nursing a broken heart. Then her boss at the restaurant is murdered. Nathaniel Thompson is the police detective that is investigating the murder. He ends up arresting the wrong suspect and Ashley takes the investigation into her own hands. She gets help from her parents, her best friends and their clever cat Charlie. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.

Nice beginning to a series. Enjoyed it.

This was a fun listen. The story began by introducing all the possible suspects, connections, and the victim. There were many fingers pointing in different directions with all of the different personalities. I enjoyed how Ashley stepped up to prove the police had the wrong suspect. She was observant, intelligent, loyal, and fun. Her fledgling infatuation with the police detective added a personal note to her growth. The narration by Meghan McConnell enhanced the story and was interesting to listen to.

Entertaining and amusing cozy mystery

The Long Paw of the Law is a quaint mystery about a restaurant cook who finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery, trying to help the police find who killed her boss. It’s a clean cozy mystery with humorous characters and a handsome but slightly clueless police detective.

I listened to the Audible audiobook version and it was a fun book to listen to. The story is entertaining and most of the characters were amusing. The narration was clear if a little mechanical. Overall, it was a fun and interesting audiobook.

I received a free copy of this book from the author with no demands should I listen to it. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
