A greedy goldsmith learns a valuable lesson from some little folks and a kind-hearted tailor. Just over six minutes long and accompanied by period music, this Brothers Grimm story proves easy listening. Experienced actor Laura Paton's soothing voice suits classic titles well. Here, she gives a sweet, enthusiastic performance. She even lets loose a bit to have fun with the colorful characters' voices. All in all, this tiny tale with a good moral ought to go over well with little folks at home.

This is a story from the Grimms' Fairy Tales 2 collection.
Jacob and Wilhelm's first book of fairy tales, Children's and Household Tales, published in 1812, included 86 folktales and was an instant success. Shortly thereafter, the brothers incorporated 70 more stories in their next volume of Grimms' Fairy Tales. This continued for six more editions! The complete collection contains over 200 stories, and is probably the best-known work of German literature.
Filled with fantasy, magic, and talking animals, these enchanting tales for children often teach a lesson about moral values, and right from wrong.
