A surprise shift

I have really enjoyed this series. I am grateful that it introduced me to Eva Kaminsky as narrator. I now look for her work but not often does an author let her loose with her talent. From the first book author and narrator gave us the unexpected experience.
It may be that the series end here, however, there is a possibility of a new shift or characters. I have liked most of Charlaine Harris's series but this one had the truly unexpected from the first book. The unique book without precedent in folklore or literary libraries makes it possible to simply find a new start to this story. I hope so and if not I really enjoyed this series.

Love all things Charlaine Harris!

This was a great final installment to the series. Sad and tragic that the alternate world couldn't avoid the big war, but Lizbeth knows what she does and doesn't want.

Exciting, great finale to the series

Love these characters. Interesting, fallible, complex. Magic vs. hand weapons battles always makes things exciting. Great series, great book.

That was…. Abrupt!

TLDR: This book is a good conclusion to the series but feels rushed. Even though these were characters I’d come to know and care for, the story was full of well thought out surprises! I don’t regret reading this book or series.

What a wonderful series the first five books of this series are. This book, the sixth and (for now) the final on the series was also very good. The characters are so grounded and consistent, yet they grow and change in ways that are sensible and understandable.

I won’t give any spoilers but I will say this: many storylines in the previous books are progressed or brought to a conclusion. I truly had no roadmap for where the story would go and that’s credit to Mrs. Harris!

New storylines begin BUT some new crucial ones come about so quickly and are seemingly given short shrift. As a reader, I needed a bit more of a runway for these ideas to take root. The idea was plopped down and then progressed so quickly that it felt abrupt. I wish I’d had more insight into the future of some of these characters but I respect the author’s decision not to.

Since she has done so before, I hope she comes back to this series with just one more book or a set of short stories that help us understand how our characters are doing.

Good story

I like this authors writing. She tells a straight forward story. Are relationships feel real with the trouble in the relationship are real. A created world that could really happen. Hope this is not the last book.
