Epilogue is worth reading
A good memoir, but Ben Macintyre’s book on Colditz covers it more holistically. However, the Epilogue offers a fantastic counter argument to those who criticize Bomber Command for their strategy in WWII.

A really entertaining yarn
This was a really entertaining book - not deep, not for the person looking for thoughtful history, just a good yarn, in the spirit of the Colditz stories, or the Douglas Bader's "Reach for the Sky". The narration was also perfect for the story. What amazes me about these books, all of which follow a similar style, is their understated non-chalance; I imagine it was the times. Anyway, if you're looking for entertaining tale along the lines I've described, then this is well worth the investment.
