Sir Arthur C. Clarke (1917-2008) is regarded as one of the most influential science fiction writers of all time. He was named a grand master by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame.

Brief & a little predictable but still a classic. Vestigial sentiments that harken back to an age when honor, sanity and reason persevered even in the face of perverse policies (M.A.D.). Makes one nostalgic for when all of humanity was still recognized and valued.
An ironic antithesis of the ‘Fail Safe’ premise but achieves the same outcome.
