Abernethy’s 1910 book The Jew a Negro has been analyzed by numerous modern authors studying race relations in earlier times in America.

Arthur Talmage Abernethy, PH. D., (1872 –1956) was a professor, Methodist pastor in New York and North Carolina, and a Democratic candidate for congress in North Carolina. He was a gifted speaker and author a score of historical books, as well as being the youngest son of the founder of Rutherford College. He was elected to the American Association for the Advancement of Science and became the poet laureate of North Carolina.

For example, the 2006 Jewish Roots in Southern Soil: A New History notes: “One southern writer, the North Carolina minister Arthur T. Abernethy, published an entire book arguing that "the Jew of to-day is essentially Negro in habits, physical peculiarities and tendencies". In rare cases...Jews were...grouped with blacks."

The 2006 book The Price of Whiteness: Jews, Race, and American Identity states: “Published in 1910 by the North Carolina minister and professor Arthur T. Abernethy, The Jew a Negro argued that ancient Jews had thoroughly mixed with neighboring African peoples, leaving little significant difference between the Jewish and Negro types. As the Jews migrated to more temperate climes, their skin lightened and they became successful, but their essential racial similarity to blacks remained unaltered."

Worth listening to. Concise and concrete. Much history in today's time is misconstrued and made up to placate to those that get to decide who is deemed what in regards to history.... all in all a good reading....

Wow! I am reading it again upon finishing. The author has insightful views. A must read.

One sided. The narrator was great! Did not research all scriptures to give point. Not enough research!

its funny how the BIBLE tell the stories differently..who was in Israel before 1948... who is it the bible tells a completely different account of the stories....in the BIBLE Black's, Mexican and Indian... are told to be different....and the BIble do say we will be lied on.....but...the JEWISH people do control it all until the most HIGH return so have fun all.....OBADIAH a(1:18)...

Black people are not inept savages

I liked none of this book. It had a lot of misinformation and concepts. Would not recommend to anyone.

Why a full 360 at the end

All of the beginning of the book this guy pushes that the Hebrews were of a dark complexion (black/negro) then magically Jesus and Mary are white ? Make it make sense. Revelations 1:14-15 explains what Jesus Christ looks like . “Fine brass like it was burnt in a furnace “ keyword burnt anything burnt is black

Pure conjecture

I waited too long to return. Besides the actual facts that can be learned anywhere the rest of this book is a fictional tale. Don't waste your credit. Anyone with a scientific background that believes in the Bible will be highly disappointed

Insight Into the Racism of the Time

I’m blown away of the mindset of the time of the original writing and the author. Clearly the books of Jasher, Enoch, etc weren’t considered or recognized by the “experts” of the time. It’s annoying how race is harped on when describing the happenings of a people who didn’t recognize race so much as tribal connections. This book is for the already learned among people of color who recognize their Hebrew heritage.
