Acerca de esta escucha
In the depths of Panacea, Marcus lives a life of structure, obedience, and secrets.
Raised for a purpose he doesn't fully understand, Marcus is part of a system that values control over truth. His days are structured, his role carefully shaped. But when he uncovers the existence of identical clones and meets the enigmatic Imogen, his world begins to unravel. Questions surface about his place in society, the illusion of leadership, and the silent rebellion brewing beneath the city's polished facade.
As unrest grows, Marcus finds himself caught between opposing forces: the Voices of Reason, who fight with ideas and patience, and the Black Rose, who wield fear and violence. Both factions want change—but at what cost?
Faced with deception, loyalty, and betrayal, Marcus must confront a haunting truth: some lies are meant to protect, and some are designed to control. But when rebellion is inevitable, can a single spark ignite hope—or will it burn the world down?
The Immortal Lord is a gripping dystopian novella that explores power, sacrifice, and the cost of truth. Perfect for listeners who love thought-provoking, character-driven stories set in dark, uncertain futures.

In a distant future, well over a thousands years from now, or so the story goes, the word is at peace. No more wars, no more sickness, and no more unhappiness. It’s a perfect world, oversaw by one known as The Immortal Lord, who united the world in a past distant enough that people have forgotten. Or have they?
With the story centered on a child known as Marcus, the reader is propelled into his world and everything seems great. That is until Marcus’ world is happily intruded upon by Imogene, a child his age who broadens his world view and piques his curiosity, until he begins to understand the world beyond his living quarters, a word not what it seems.
Written in the vein of classic dystopian literature, author Keith Hoskins incorporates his own little spin, offering unexpected twists the reader can only begin to imagine.
Plus, the narrator Cathy Conneff’s performance brings this story to life with a variety of characters and emotion that are truly remarkable.
I applaud the work of Hoskins and Conneff in this ya dystopian novel. Truly, it’s one for the classroom bookshelf-me being an English teacher and all.
Highly recommend in print and in audio.
