The key to human immortality...
...Comes with a destructive price.
Imperial Special Agent Ayla Rin has uncovered a web of conspiracy leading back to the stronghold of the dangerous Robeni Space Pirates. Intelligence networks intercepted transmissions that indicate the pirates may have access to a new refined spore that can stop the aging process in humans.
But there's more than meets the eye, as the trail leads Ayla to a mysterious planet which isn't on any of the Imperial star charts, a world lost to time. Sinister forces seek to control this immortality spore and weaponize it against the Imperium.
Ayla Rin must uncover who is pulling the strings behind this planetary government and stop their evil plans before they're exported to the entire Imperium. If she fails, humanity as we know it could be erased.

Fun Science Fiction that Entertains!

A protagonist that can't get her well deserved vacation is sent once more into the unknown to solve a Galactic level crisis. This time without her James Bond-esque toys or privileges.
An engaging spy story that fans of Warhammer 40k and 80s action movies will devour.
I usually don't enjoy female point of view novels, but I liked this one. The OVERMIND comic adds some interesting backstory but isn't required reading if you want to start here.
5/5. Fun science fiction! Better than anything TOR's published in decades.

Any talk of how curvaceous and physically appealing she is to men – which causes them to drop their guard around this brilliant, physically able, and sly woman is written in a way that is very PG – easily making it appropriate for all audiences. As a writer, Jon's world-building is terrific. It gives you enough information about the political construct, technology, and such that it all makes sense. The good guys are most similar to STAR TREK's Federation while being different at the same time. If you enjoy Science Fiction space stories – this may be a book that you'd be interested in reading.

It was nice to hear it read out loud as a refresher. I think the narrator is the same as from the “For Steam and Country” series. I’d always thought “Ayla” was pronounced more like “Aye-la” until listening to this.
The story is relatively standalone and doesn’t require having read any of her comics to understand, although that certainly doesn’t hurt. It’s a bout of science fiction space adventure with a twist of intrigue and conspiracy. A drug that’s said to extend life indefinitely, but at what cost? And what happens to those who refuse the drug? Who’s supplying the drug and what do they have to gain?
Ayla is strong, and is independent, but isn’t a “boss female dog” either and still relies on the supporting cast.
I’ve enjoyed every book and comic in this series and always look forward to the next one.
Rhymes with “Kayla”
