Despite her plans, she finds herself seeking refuge in the home of her brother's enemy after a mishap. The homeowner, Phillip, is the Earl of Sheffield, and he is known for his reputation as a rake. However, Fiona is intrigued by how he defies society's expectations.
Phillip, on the other hand, is haunted by his past and is hesitant to host the impulsive young lady who arrives at his doorstep. Although they are attracted to each other, their conscience keeps them apart. In polite regency society, marrying a man with Phillip's tarnished reputation is not acceptable.
