short but sweet

a very sweet story that could have been fleshed out a bit more for some excitement, but a good listen. I got this book as a 2 for 1 and it was worth it. I would have been disappointed if I paid full price for it. since one credit is $16? even half is a bit much.

I absolutely loved this book! It took a while to get into it but then I couldn’t walk away. It comes highly recommended!

Darling!

Such a darling and endearing story!!! Written well with all kinds of emotions. I laughed out loud more than once!

The narrator is perhaps the best I've heard at putting the intensity of emotion into her acting that the manuscript calls for. She really brings it to life. I think the voice of the main male character is a bit better than the last book, but still room for improvement. Even so, the emotion she put in to all characters made up for it.

Loved this Book.

I do want to say that this is the first book I have read that has so much emotion. So many things happening and I found myself routing tor this and that. I do not want to give the story away. Almost might just listen to it all over again. I am going to look for another of Patricia Davids books. There were only the two in this series so there will not be anything more of the families of Cedar Grove. So well written for sure and we did hear something about the families of the first book. Thank you for this great listen.

The Hope is book 2 of The Amish of Cedar Grove series but it is the 1st book I have read from the series. It is completely standalone so although the couple from the previous book was mentioned, it wasn't necessary to read that book first. This is the first book I have read by this author. I will read more by her. In fact, I am interested in reading the other books from this series.

I enjoyed the story overall. I liked some of the characters quite a bit. The main female character, Ruth, kind of irritated me at times though because she was pretty petty at times. Some of the reasons that I deducted from my rating were that although this is an Amish book, a lot of the dialogue and overall feel from the interactions didn't come across very Amish. Of course, some of the Pennsylvania Dutch language was used here and there and of course there were references to their god and such but it felt more contrived in that aspect. The beginning was a bit slow but it did pick up. Also, the little girl, Grace, was 3 years old. She was far too well spoken and wise beyond her years. At times, she read more like a 6 year old than a 3 year old. Her age fit more whatever the author needed from her character at the time than a steady and consistent character age. I really liked her though. She was one of the best characters in this book. I also really liked the dog.

The narration was good. I didn't have any issues with the narrator.

I recommend this book.
