Thomas “Big Mac” MacDonald lost everything in the divorce—his home, his National Football League pension, and his dignity—everything but his prized, classic, VW van. It would be enough to drive anyone to drink, but that’s only the half of it. The “residents” of the beach park where Thomas and dozens of other homeless San Diegans sleep in their cars are strangely disappearing at a rapid rate. With the help of his 12-year-old daughter, Big Mac begins rebuilding his life and clearing his name. But when the two get sucked into solving the mystery surrounding the park, Thomas realizes he has a lot to lose—but he puts it all on the line to do the right thing. If he succeeds, he’s a hero. If he fails, he’s a footnote—another former football player who died before his time.
