I heard a voice: Because of their profound knowledge of God. No person on earth, even though a great saint, has such knowledge of God as an Angel has” (Diary, 1332).

The same goes for devotion to Mary. The devil knows much more about devotion to her than any person on earth.

It’s like this. Most people wouldn’t be able to identify a fake Mona Lisa, even if they were told it was done by a professional forger, because they don’t know the original as well as the forger does.

In the same way, it’s very difficult to identify a false devotion to Mary, because you don’t know what true devotion to her looks like as much as the devil does.
