During a holiday on the island of Lindisfarne, the authors began to experience a series of dreams that encouraged them to walk a fault line, or geological seam of sacred rock, across the southern part of the island. On a geology map, they discovered the fault runs beneath the haunted St Cuthbert’s Isle, the Heugh where the first church was built and the castle. The dowsing of these sites revealed a flow of energy connecting them, similar to the dragon lines discovered along the Spine of Albion. This quest continued across Northumbria and Scotland, passing through places associated with King Oswald, St Cuthbert, the mysterious Culdees, early Celtic saints, King Arthur, Knights Templars and every aspect of the Holy Grail. After three years of research, the authors shone new light on many of the historical and esoteric mysteries of the Northumbrian and Scottish landscapes. Their trail ended on a beach on the little island of Tyree, where they stood on the very same sacred rock where the journey began. Further research led us to believe that this line has had a significant influence on the spiritual psyche of the English and the Scottish in the past and may play a spiritual role in the future as a modern pilgrimage route.
