Thad Hardison is the first born of the Hardison siblings and is a dedicated rancher, which in itself is good, but can cause a bump in the search for a wife, when the ranch is not exactly a short drive to the nearest town. Thad also does not want just anyone for a wife. He wants a love match like his father and mother and his sister, Caroline and her husband have. A pretty big order it would seem. then something unusual happens. Thad discovers dinosaur fossils while dredging a water hole and informs the museum in Bozeman. A paleontologist is sent out to examine the fossils to determine what species of dinosaur the fossils belong to. A problem develops when the fossils start to disappear.
Joanne Hamill works part-time for the museum and is also a free-lance writer who has been assigned the job of documenting the fossils the team identifies. Thad does not remember Joanne, but she remembers him, all too well. He was football captain and probably the most handsome guy in high school, but it was the way he looked out for his younger sister and brother that Joanne most admired. Being an only child, she had often wished she had a brother to look after her. Then her parents had decided to move to Bozeman, and she had not seen Thad since. Now, seeing him again, she acknowledges that he is even more handsome, with a maturity that sits well with his easy-going manner. Joanne also acknowledges that she could easily fall for Thad but is determined not too. After all, Thad had dated the head cheerleader, Georgianna, a beautiful blonde, in high school. Joanne knows she is no beauty queen, so there is no reason Thad would give her a second look anyway. All the more reason for Joanne to guard her heart.
