"Told with impressive scholarship and panache... The result is a narrative that is clear, balanced, and builds to its denouement with a sense of pace and tension worthy of a John le Carr novel" John Adamson, Sunday Telegraph

Reseñas de la Crítica
Antonia Fraser has written an excellent book which unravels the whole story of the plot, exploring the background, keeping close to the evidence, and, above all, bringing the characters to life ... a judicious and very readable account (Hugh Trevor-Roper)
Told with impressive scholarship and panache. The result is a narrative that is clear, balanced, and builds to its denouement with a sense of pace and tension worthy of a John le Carré novel (John Adamson)
Every few years a work of history appears that succeeds in connecting its subject to the deeper questions troubling modern society. This is one such book (Amanda Foreman)
It has a fine narrative flow, for Antonia Fraser recognises that history is essentially a story, and a gripping one at that. She writes with verve and imagination (Kenneth Baker)
Fraser's meticulously researched book is an excellent read ... Antonia Fraser has shed much light on one of the most controversial episodes in English history (Martin Jacques)
An awe-inspiring tale ... It makes superb armchair entertainment (Paul Johnson)
Eloquent and moving (Jonathan Clark)
History as it should be written (Roy Strong)
What disappointed you about The Gunpowder Plot?
A long winded and in places confusingly told, story of a foiled attempt to blow-up Parliament House in London in 16 ?? Already forgotten the date. What was most disappointing about Antonia Fraser’s story?
Just far to much detail ploddingly read and totally unable to engage me.Would you be willing to try another one of Robert Powell’s performances?
PossiblyYou didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Yes, I found out, finally after listening to the story twice, about the Gun Powder Plot.Any additional comments?
This book is not a patch on later books by Antonia Fraser, and to be fair, was written years before the more recent ones that I have listened to and thoroughly enjoyed. Maybe Ms Fraser received some advice from an editor over the tears. What was "The Gunpowder Plot" all about?
