When veteran Chicago Police Detective Joe Eisman, known among friends as 'Iceman', entered the dark basement stairwell, he was overcome by the brutal nature of the young girl's murder. Her palms were face up, and held something precious to her. From that very moment, Det. Eisman vowed to see her killer brought to justice, and with this Detective that did not necessarily mean a courtroom appearance was in his future. But Eisman's efforts are hampered along the way when he is suddenly teamed up by less experienced, by the book Detective Jennifer Wilkes from downtown. She has been brought in to curb Eisman's cowboy style of police work. Eisman prefers to work alone as he has most of his career, and he has good reason. One person can keep a secret, and Eisman has plenty of them. Along the way, Det. Wilkes becomes a reluctant participant to Eisman and his methods of operation as she sees on a case by case basis how he operates....and why.

Enjoyed story - hated AI narration

Predictable but good story. Characters well developed. I appreciated the poetic justice.
Would have been much better with live narration.
