In The Most Amazing Miracle of the Quran: Islamic Monotheism, Dr. Eeshat Ansari makes a powerful claim. Islamic Monotheism (tawhid) is unique and so pure that it can only come from the true God. It is beyond human capability to imagine such far-reaching and subtle monotheistic ideas. Here is the evidence:
- Allah is not similar to anything or any other being and is beyond human imagination. Mosques have no statues, images, or pictures of Allah.
- In the Quran, Allah never becomes human, and no human, no matter how pious, ever becomes God.
- Allah has always existed. The God of Islam was not born like a human and will never die.
- Every single prayer in the Quran directly calls on Allah; no prayer in the Quran calls on prophets, angels, or saints.
- Polytheism (shirk) is defined as worshipping deities other than Allah or along with Allah. But in some cases, the Quran warns that mental shirk can also exist even in the absence of other deities. In addition, some desires can also be shirk.
This book provides an in-depth analysis of shirk, including nuanced and subtle cases. You will not find many contemporary books covering these issues.
According to the Quran, shirk is the only sin Allah will never forgive. In Islam, Monotheism holds the highest priority.
