Acerca de esta escucha

The Great War of Our Time offers an unprecedented assessment of the CIA while at the forefront of our nation's war against al-Qa'ida and during the most remarkable period in the history of the agency. Called the "Bob Gates of his generation", Michael Morell is a top CIA officer who saw it all - the only person with President Bush on 9/11/01 and with President Obama on 5/1/11, when Usama Bin Laden was brought to justice. Like Ghost Wars, See No Evil, and At the Center of the Storm, The Great War of Our Time is a vivid, newsmaking account of the CIA, a life of secrets, and a war in the shadows.

You could read this just for a blow by blow of how those controversial Benghazi talking points came about. But you'll also learn the inside scoop on 9-11, the intelligence lead up to the Iraq war, the Bin Laden mission and every other story that has dominated the news for the last 30 years. Was Snowden a hero or a traitor? The facts speak for themselves.

It is obvious that Morell just loves the organization that he has worked for 30 years or so and that is to be expected. But what made the book worth listening to was his own internal assments

The book good some parts are very interesting and tells different views of stories we have all heard, between the news and conspiracy theories and then there is this version which sounds more like the truth.

Far too much focus on the beaucratic process of the CIA and not enough on actual CIA operations

This was an easy book to listen to. Morell is very descriptive and captivating with his writing. My favorite sections were of the Pre & Post 9/11 counter terror efforts, the hunt for Bin Laden and the final chapter where he speaks deeply about the CIA's mission, purpose and the operates and agents who have died in action.

Thorough and Captivating
