First - The Good
The first several stories are Hercule Poirot stories. All are great stories with great narration, but I have other copies of most of them in other audio books (that does not matter because I still enjoyed listening to them). These were followed by Miss Marple stories. I skipped the next story featuring Josephine Tey's Inspector Alan Grant (I will come back to this later). Then came Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe. I am new to Nero Wolfe, and I enjoyed what I got to hear. That is where "the good" ends.
Next - The Problems
I already knew based on another review here that nothing is labeled in this book. There are no titles, authors, or identifiable chapters to help a listener move around through the book easily. You can jump around the chapters (all 364 of them), but you will have to figure out where you are without any help from the book itself. There is a 5339 page PDF that accompanies the book, but it does not have a table of contents, just a list of the lead characters of the stories (and not in any specific order). Although the narrator on the Poirot stories was really good, the narration for Miss Marple was some form of automated/electronic voice that made it difficult to enjoy those stories. The next story, was #5 in Josephine Tey's Inspector Alan Grant series...The Daughter of Time. Unfortunately, no matter how hard I tried, I just could not get into the story, so I marked where it started and ended and went on to the Nero Wolfe story. I was really enjoying that story and was about halfway through chapter 13 (page 2648 in the accompanying PDF) when the story abruptly stopped and jumped to the next audible chapter (243) in the story. I looked it up in the PDF, and the missing part ran from page 2648 to 2658. I decided at this point that I needed to step away from this book for a while.
Finally - The Round Up
Overall, I gave this title 2 stars (mainly for the Agatha Christie stories I got to enjoy again). The issues I had may not be a problem for some, but after listening for roughly 50 hours, it was rather disappointing. If you don't mind these issues, then grab this title. After all there are some good stories, and there may be some good stories after my jump off point. If you don't want to struggle with knowing where you are at, going to where you want to, or hearing entire complete stories, I do not recommend it.
