What was meant to be a one-off book that would fill the training gap that so many “How-To” training books overlook — our lack of understanding of our dogs and ourselves, and how these gaps sabotage our success regardless of how much “training” we engage in — was so incredibly well-received (close to 10,000 copies sold) that it necessitated a second volume.

Volume one took an overarching look at the biggest, most common mistakes owners make, and broke them down in a simple, clear, straightforward fashion that was easy to understand and led many to begin to re-examine, reset, and ultimately create far fuller and more enjoyable lives with their dogs. Volume two continues this journey of examining ourselves and our dogs but dives even deeper into the concepts that made volume one so helpful. Sean spent several years working to better understand and better explain the obstacles that he was seeing repeatedly stymie his client’s success, and unwittingly preventing them from achieving their goals.

Love Them by Leading Them, Vol. 2 is the natural evolution of volume one. While retaining the unique feel of the first, and still grappling with the ever-challenging human/dog “misunderstanding” of one another, volume two explores deeper territory, deeper concepts, and offers deeper solutions in an effort to help owners become the leaders/guides their dogs need them to be in order for both species to better enjoy their lives together.

changed my dog training

Im a balanced professional dog trainer but struggled with how to talk to dog owners about corrective tools. when clients would push back i would shy away from talking about them or using them; slowly changing my training style closer to a pure positive. I listened to volume 1 and 2 back to back. Sean has helped me with the hardest part of being a balanced dog trainer; the people. I have started recommending this book to all my clients so I can refer to parts in it when they are struggling. My clients are happier and their dogs are better off for it. Thank you Sean and all of those at TGD for helping me elevate my training to the next level. I have just started listening to the audiobook for the second time, only a week after the initial purchase.

A must read for dog owners and beginning trainers

Great information assembled in perfect bite sized chunks. If "how to" books or videos have left you thinking you're incapable, this is the book for you. It gives you the other side of the coin.

A Must Read Book

I thoroughly enjoyed this amazing book. It teaches owners the power of making your dog self-aware of the consequences of their choices, good & bad. It shows you how leadership with your dog can grant you a better life with them & reminds you love cannot fix the issues dog owners are struggling with, with their dog. I recommend this book to all my clients.
