Resumen del Editor

A science fiction thriller set in the near future. Humanity is on the brink of achieving AI singularity as the potential for first contact ith aliens arises.

George Isaacson has dreams of being a global social media influencer, pushing fringe conspiracy theories and government coverups. While not a true believer himself, he knows that plenty of people are. He only needs to hook them.

In the summer of 2023, scientists at NASA discover five objects racing toward a point outside our solar system. Disregarding the official storyline of a naturally occurring event, George spins a tale of extraterrestrials, government coverups, and the end of life as we know it. When the objects start slowing, he realizes the alien conspiracy theories he’s promoting might be true.

China and the United States publicly partner to lead the world into a new era in space while their rivalry for global dominance simmers in the shadows. Friction between the two countries is intense, with each seeking to dominate the technological world and solidify its position as the sole superpower. The new cold war heats up with discoveries of espionage that lead to breakthroughs in quantum computing and artificial intelligence.

When tragedy strikes, George finds that his drive to become famous could have dire consequences for those who follow him. The response to the crisis may be worse than the perceived threat, and he must decide whether to use his newfound fame to bring the world community together, or let it all go and hope everything they know about the threat is wrong.

End was not great.

The story had lots of perspectives. It passed over so much time between sections that Characters development was shallow. I think there’s potential in this story line, and it would have made a good series with more detail and Character development. I think the end was abrupt and rushed.
Not my favorite. 6/10

Sci Fi and Life Lessons wrapped up into one!

Wow, this one caught me off guard! Several plot arcs run simultaneously, which all collide at the end. ( No spoilers here! )

A unique take on spirituality, etc. As much character-driven as plot-driven

Adam Riley put forth a very solid performance.

It is an above-average offering and highly recommended.

I was provided my copy for free in exchange for this authentic and non-biased review.

Well-researched current day what if…

Wilburn’s first novel is one everyone can relate to. His attention to detail both in technical content and character development make for a well-rounded, realistic and thought provoking scenario. Can’t wait for book 2!

Smart Techno Thriller with a Relevant Theme

With a story that connects the ancient past with the very near future, Don's first effort is impressive and leaves me eagerly looking forward to more.

From the tongue-slightly-in-cheek social media personality, to the no nonsense, career driven DHS supervisor and the patriotic government tech leader, the characters are believable and competent.

I don't think the book could be released at a more timely moment as well, given the rising discussions about the power of AI down the road.

I can't wait for the sequel.

In the interest of transparency, I was a beta reader during the writing process.

Thoroughly engaging and well researched Sci-Fi thriller.

This book had me hooked from the start. The vivid descriptions and see less transitions led to an enjoyable and fun emersion into Wilburn’s world where our creators are returning and the judgement on the rise of AI is not revealed … tile the end. Well-done for a first novel. Looking forward to the next.

A Simple, Tropey Alien Conspiracy Story

It was an interesting premise … a fringe podcaster seeking the truth behind all those alien/government conspiracies only to find out that some of them are actually true. Unfortunately … it was poorly executed. To begin with, there was absolutely no character development (or even differentiation) anywhere. Then the MC podcast dialog seemed to take up way too much of the story … the silliness would have been bearable if it didn’t take itself so seriously (either I didn’t get the humor or there just wasn’t any). Then there was the typical freshman pitfalls such as info-dumps and an incessant focus on trivial details that added absolutely nothing to the story. There is enough tech to call it SciFi … and the author gets most of it right, but it does go off the rails enough that I am pretty sure it is just a bunch of tropes stitched together without much understanding of the actual tech/science behind it. Must of this would have been fixed with a good editor … all of this was exacerbated by a narration that didn’t differential the voices well and delivered the excessive dialog just enough off to seem unnatural … taken all together, it was so boring that I almost DNF.

I was given this free advance review/listener copy (ARC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
