Resumen del Editor

Most people have heard of Calvinism and Arminianism, and most know there are many problems with the extreme forms, hyper-Calvinism and hyper-Arminianism. But what did John Calvin really teach and where did his ideas come from? Learn the true Gnostic origins of Calvinism from the ancient church fathers and compare Scripture with Scripture to clearly see the trap Satan has set to divide Bible-believing Christians.

Examine the doctrines of total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of the saints, along with predestination, foreknowledge, replacement theology, and Amillennialism. Find answers from the Bible, ancient church fathers, and the political history of the 16th century Europe.

must read if struggling with Calvinism

Should read even if you have made up your mind. This is the best, and shortest, book I know on this topic. Instead of philosophizing he goes to the early church fathers, who were taught by the disciples for their teaching on the subject, and he also explains the context in the middle ages. Listened first and then bought as a reference.

Eye-Opening

This is an incredible whirlwind of revelatory truth unveiling the mysteries of Calvinist thought and it's nefarious origins. It is very densely packed and somewhat hard to follow in an audio format due to so much information being loaded.into evety sentence. I will definitely be looking to buy the hard copy. But the content is invaluable for any seeking the historical truths surrounding this topic and delivered in a very straight forward manner.

Disappointing

The book doesn't really get too deep into the Gnostic history of Calvanism. Mostly an apologetic for Arminianism - which is not a bad thing, just not what I was looking for, nor what title of the book would lead you to believe what the book is about. It does a decent job of shedding light on what the early church fathers believed about free will/determinism which is important.

When did Calvinism creep into the church?

Fantastic review of what early church fathers taught vs the heresies that started to creep into the church.

Very Informative

Ken Johnson, as always, has shared his extensive biblical knowledge and given insight into what scripture clearly states and what our church fathers and the contemporaries of Jesus believed. Excellent information and superb narration. And regarding narration…it’s so important. Even if an author has an excellent book all is lost if the narrator is hard to listen to. This narrator was excellent is every way, letting Ken’s research and knowledge go gently, pleasantly and unobtrusively to this listener/learner’s ears.

Good read

It was a quick book, but to some extent exactly what I was looking for. He provided quotes from ancient church fathers but really stuck to the same 3-5 people the whole book. He also provided other good source book/resources and he did show how double predestination evolved out of heresy. I liked it.

Nice summary of the Biblical material

The history leading up to Calvinism was very interesting making a lot of sense as to how the doctrine came about.

Ken Johnson Believes You Can't Lose Your Salvation

From his website: "We believe that salvation is by faith alone, without works of any kind."

The Bible says, “faith without works is dead” in James 2:26: “For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.”

In John 15, Jesus says every branch in Him that does not produce fruit is tossed into the fire. Therefore, Salvation is not by faith alone, and Ken Johnson is student of John Calvin and he doesn't even know it.
