Acerca de esta escucha
That Sally the Loner would be at an ice cream social is surreal. But when she turns her van around to go to an ice cream social, it becomes a phantasmagoric moment for the record books.
Add to it that she comes away with three new friends that call themselves the 3 Houseketeers… Well. Now we’ve surpassed surreal and flew right into fantasyland on a pink elephant.
Why does it matter? Because suddenly Sally is the credible alibi for the 3 Houseketeers. Three abused wives that have become 3 wealthy widows in one fell swoop.
How did she become the credible witness? As a spectator in the first annual scooter race for octogenarians. Where the only competitors are the maniacal grumpy old geezers of the befriending ladies.
Were they accidents or perfect murders?
You tell me. And Detective Muldoon.

The narration was not to my liking, I didn't particularly care for her voice and tone. I listened at 1.3 speed while I was doing housework so it was tolerable .

This is a delightful story about Sally the self-proclaimed loner who meets up with three octogenarians at an ice cream social. They seem to be planning the demise of their collectively abusive husbands. Several decades of abuse seems to be a legitimate reason for the ladies to want their freedom. Sally can’t figure out though if the separate deaths of the husbands on a single day were a planned murder or simply the result of the men’s arrogance and lack of awareness. Either way, Sally is happy that her new friends have finally gotten the freedom they have wanted for so long. Well written with tones of humor and familiarity.
I listened to the book on Audible. I was impressed with the narrator’s assignment of a different voice to so many characters. What I didn’t like was that all the older ladies had the high pitched somewhat shaky voice so often given to older folks when people try to imitate them. This was a bit hard on my ears as well as irritating because I nave never known an older lady to have a voice like that.
Overall, an enjoyable read.

To be honest I HATED the narrators voices
Screetching sounds came from my iPad for 5 days.
That’s how long it took me to listen to this track.
It gave me a headache - I had to do it in little spurts.
All I could get from story is that Sally was trying to figure out a murder.
And her dead husband is the reason that she tries so hard to connect with others- because that’s what he would have wanted- her to have friends and a life.
That’s all I got.
Couldn’t stand narrators voice
