Film noir

Classic, hard boiled detective thriller. Well written and very nicely read. Would make a nice movie.

Great con story

This is one of Lawrence Block’s best. He takes you deep into the life of grifters practicing the “long con”. Characters are great, plot is excellent and there are some nice twists.

The Long Con

I really enjoyed this entertaining (if dated) story about a couple of grifters trying to pull a long con. Block's writing is taut, his characters interesting and of course, there's some unexpected intrigue!

The Hard Case Crime series rarely seems to disappoint and Alan Sklar's narration is a perfect match for Block's writing.

Predictable, or so I thought!

This is one of the Hard Case Series. A friend clued me into the fact that this was a series way back when I read [I:]"The Colorado Kid" [/I:]by Stephen King, which I really enjoyed. Each is a tale (longer than a short story, shorter than a novel (about 6 hrs in audiobook format)) written by a different author. I figured I'd give the rest of the series a try.
