The “Great Commission” given by Jesus is usually talked about in the context of making disciples and baptizing them. But, this is only half of the verse. The other half of the verse says to teach His disciples to observe all the things that Jesus taught. This is often overlooked.So, teaching is a very important part of the “Great Commission” given by Jesus. It is so important to preach and evangelize and make new converts to Christianity, but it is just as important to teach the new converts the commandments of Christ. Jesus was the “Great Teacher”. Jesus spent more time teaching than anything else. We should take a lesson from this, and spend more time teaching the concepts of Jesus. One of the newer trends in churches is to do away with Sunday school classes. This is a great mistake. It is important for children to memorize Bible verses and to learn the stories of the Bible.Adult Sunday school classes are very important, also. Sometimes adult Sunday school classes are called Bible studies or connect groups. But, learning is so important for all age groups including children and adults. A person is never too old to learn. But, in order to learn a person must be willing to learn which takes humility.This book is about the gift of teaching which is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
