Resumen del Editor

Long before the world of the Ganymeans blew apart millennia ago, the strange race of giants had already vanished. All that remained of them was a wrecked ship abandoned on a frozen moon of Jupiter. Now Earth’s scientists are there, determined to ferret out the secret of the lost race. But when suddenly the Ganymeans return, they bring with them answers that will reveal the secret of our own as well.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Scientists’ efforts to uncover the unexpected genetic link between Terran and Minervan life is aided by the equally unexpected reappearance of a Minervan ship. Interesting reading for sf enthusiasts and for those who enjoy a methodical analysis of a complex theory." ( Kliatt)

good but story does not withstand the time

good- intersting plot, narrator voice
bad- too many smoking commercials (did the author got paid by tobacco companies?) and explanation dialogue's.

Part of the Old World of SciFi

A little bit long in breath, but the last chapters put it together great!

Enjoyable

Loved the overall book. The ending was stretched out and could have been shortened. But ended up with a great ending.

Great follow-up to the first book.

I really like sci-fi with lots of science and also military intrigue. Human race- it’s always been us or them, keeps us on our toes. Or does it? It’s wonderful to think we might just outgrow that competitiveness and come together for the good of all. Or could we really? Hmmm.
It’s great to think there might be races that just went there in the first place.
I missed this author when these books came out (1977). I would have loved them them. Now 40 years later, this is still a great read although more than a bit not PC. That’s ok. The story is worth it!

Gigantic

Thank you for weaving the human story into this entire trilogy. Inherit the the star created the framework, Gentle Giants the back story and hints of those things to be discovered, and the Giants Star brought human kind full circle and established the Galactic future.

Great Story of First Contact

So much of sci-fi is pessimistic in nature. Taking the ills of society and extrapolating them to the extreme. Hogan's "Giant's Series" is so good because he show's humanity for the good they can do. The scientific progress they can make and how welcoming they can be. Get this book.

Another good book.

If can you ignore the fact that early humans were not remarkably smarter than other forms of early man then then the jump in evolution makes sense.
Unfortunately we are just a progression and not some magical jump in development.
.
Other than that the book is pretty good.
It would be a great book if the personalities and relationships were a bit more complex.

awesome sci-fi story

What a great continuation of a fantastic science fiction story. This is truly a classic story that has lost nothing as our current technology marches on. This has what most of us wish for, and that is for us to use what is our natural animal nature not to wage war and death on our own species but Instead to use it to accept no compromise in science and exploration.

Better than the the first books…

But I think this could have been more an extended epilogue. Worth it if you have read the other books.
