Libby St. Clair believes in fate - so much so, she's willing to pin everything on a curse a fortune-teller placed on her and her two best friends when they were kids. The curse, that each of them will marry before 30, have a disaster of a wedding, and end up with a man other than her original fiancé, has come to fruition for both of her friends, who are now deliriously happy. But Libby's attempt to quick-start the curse by proposing to her wrong-for-her boyfriend ends in a wild dash from the altar.
Having spent most of his adulthood fleeing responsibility and commitment, Noah McMillan is finally ready to grow up. Of course, figuring out how is still a work in progress. When he realizes that he's in love with his friend, Libby, he flies to Kansas City to put a stop to her wedding. But Libby's already pulled a runaway bride. Eager to cheer her up and prove that he can be the man she deserves, he takes her on a madcap car trip that will bring them all the way to the City of Sin. In Vegas, those who risk it all either win big or lose everything, so what will happen if Libby and Noah take a gamble on love?

Libby decides she is going to ask her 5 month boyfriend Mitch to marry her in hopes that her real soulmate would come along and bust up the wedding. When they were at the alter, Libby realized there wasn’t anyone out there to sweep her off her feet. She decided to make a run for it! She ends up on a road trip with Noah.
This book was funny. I love the characters, especially the over-the-top grandmas. Fun, quick read.

I liked this book better than the first two in the series. The premise is runaway bride, but the story is two broken souls finding each other.
Wow - these two main characters - do they ever have self esteem issues. Eesh. Painful to hear but it rings true much more than the 1st two books.
And the women from the first two books (who Libby helped so much) were horrendous to her. Yikes.
I like having the epilogue - many books in this genre end the book one sentence after the couple stops fighting.
Sexy times are hot. Very brief though. One erotic scene?
Narrator is okay.
Better than first 2

The other sad part, to me, was the lack of depth of the characters. Both had traumatic or at least difficult childhood issues, which come out during the story. You can see the way Libby's experience affected her, but get none of the thought process that leads to her decisions. The inner turmoil is completely hidden. Then, it turns out Noah has ADHD, which is part of his trouble with his father. Again, you can kind of see how that trouble shaped his life, but we don't see any of the reasons for it in his thoughts. And then, as a woman with ADHD who is also married to a man with ADHD, I don't really like the way he was portrayed. The author was clearly trying to show ADHD as an "ok" thing, and not attack it or stigmatize. But she fell back on some stereotypes and misinformation, including that medication makes you feel like a zombie/not creative. She does mention that he came to terms with needing medication for the rest of his life, but it never comes up that he's still on it or not. And, after having read the other books in the series, his inner monologue is no different than that of her other male characters. It doesn't seem like the character actually has ADHD, just that he needed a "flaw" or an "issue" to have fought with his father over, and the author tacked it on after the story was written.
Spoilers Below.
And then the resolution is so strange. They never speak about having feelings for each other, though the reader know both are coming to terms with being in love with each other but are scared of being hurt by the other's typically casual approach to dating. Then they're in vegas, and so you start assuming they will make a bet (Monica & Chandler style) and end up getting married. Then they start playing Truth or Dare, and you assume they'll "truth" out love or wanting marriage or maybe just "dare" the wedding. But no. They just kiss a couple times, then he says he'll marry her because of the curse, and she says ok. The wedding scene was great, but getting there was disappointing and confusing.
Flat characters, unrealistic ADHD, but cute story
