Acerca de esta escucha

"Well written fantasy with strong character emphasis and empathy" from the author of the sci-fi classic Escape to Witch Mountain (Kirkus Reviews).

At night, Little Jon's people go out to watch the stars. Mesmerized by a meteor shower, he forgets to watch his step and falls through a moss-covered door to another land: America. He awakes hurt, his memory gone, sure only that he does not belong here. Captured by a hunter, Jon escapes by leaping six feet over a barbed-wire fence. Hungry and alone, he staggers through the darkness and is about to be caught when he is rescued by a kind family known as the Beans. They shelter him, feed him, and teach him about his new home. In return, he will change their lives forever.

Although the Beans are kind to Little Jon, the townspeople mistrust the mysterious visitor. But Jon has untold powers, and as he learns to harness them, he will show his newfound friends that they have no reason to be afraid.

One of my favorite books of all time. A great story for young minds. I’ve purchased paperback versions to give my grandchildren.

Excellent story that stays with you!

And I still love it as a grandfather. I love this story because it teaches about love and compassion for those who are different and in this case a boy from another world. Today we drastically need love, peace and tolerance for those around us. This teaches good moral values. It is perfectly clean.

Thanks for making this story available as an audiobook.

I loved this book as a child

I don’t think there is any other book that has influenced me more. Certainly it helped guide the way through childhood. It used to be available year after year through scholastic, and now, I don’t believe it’s in publication anywhere, except Kindle and Audible. A slightly sour note would be the narrator, I suppose. as good as this author is, I would think he rated someone who could talk. The narrator’s contractions sound like baby talk and his characterizations show a little concern for who he’s portraying. Still, I want to reiterate, this book is worth it.

A timeless thrill… A necessary book.

I dislike that this was written in the 1960’s , and if this really happened today…..the reaction of the public would be the same fearful dischord as the public’s character actions were in this book. Peace and Love to the Valley People a world away somewhere.

Human nature remains unchanged

I first had this read to me back in 1978 loved it then - even better now!! Well done

Wonderful Story

A simple but potent story about the need for kindness in an often unkind, unbalanced world.

Using an enigmatic telepathic child, Key makes some pertinent observations about how far we have to go as a species.

Narrator does a good job. I like that it's been kept true to the text, which despite coming out almost six decades ago remains timeless.

First read it way back in Elementary...
