Acerca de esta escucha

David Baldacci's remarkable detective Amos Decker - the man who can forget nothing - was first introduced in the sensational number-one New York Times best seller Memory Man. Now Decker returns in a stunning new novel....

The Fix

Amos Decker witnesses a murder just outside FBI headquarters. A man shoots a woman execution style on a crowded sidewalk, then turns the gun on himself.

Even with Decker's extraordinary powers of observation and deduction, the killing is baffling. Decker and his team can find absolutely no connection between the shooter - a family man with a successful consulting business - and his victim, a schoolteacher. Nor is there a hint of any possible motive for the attack.

Enter Harper Brown. An agent of the Defense Intelligence Agency, she orders Decker to back off the case. The murder is part of an open DIA investigation, one so classified that Decker and his team aren't cleared for it.

But they learn that the DIA believes solving the murder is now a matter of urgent national security. Critical information may have been leaked to a hostile government - or, worse, an international terrorist group - and an attack may be imminent.

Decker's never been one to follow the rules, especially with the stakes so high. Forced into an uneasy alliance with Agent Brown, Decker remains laser focused on only one goal: solving the case before it's too late.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"This fast-moving mystery is a wonderful vehicle for narrators Kyf Brewer and Orlagh Cassidy. Brewer portrays FBI agent Amos Decker's quirky personality and investigative abilities with aplomb. Cassidy provides wonderful, unique personalities for Defense Intelligence Agent Harper Brown and Decker's roommate and colleague Alex Jamison, as well as various other female characters.... Well-developed characters and realistic dialogue help listeners follow the story, and the well-paced, adept vocal performances add to the intrigue." ( AudioFile)

Another great series of Amos Decker. Love the plot but little bit sad toward the ending. No spoilers but I would recommend that people read this.

Great story

Loved it. It made me forego watching TV because I couldn't stop listening to it.

The BEST of the series

I like most everything about the Amos Decker series. My only complaint with this one is that it felt like Baldacci used dialogue far too much to advance the plot. Amos would reveal stuff without our knowing how he figured it out. Still, I like this cast of characters and the plot was complicated enough to keep me thinking and engaged. I thought the narration was good. Almost 5s, but not quite.

Easily worth the credit, but. . .

I have read all of the Amos Decker books and this is the best installment to date. The characters are well developed in the story and the plot line keeps you guessing till the end. I also enjoyed the subplots within the book. Overall, well done. Give it a shot. I would love to see this one made into a movie.

Best Yet

long and slow moving gets better at the end. takes persistence to finally get there

highly complex plot

As usual the story starts off with a bang but then slows. The story never lets you go and then comes back and finishes with a bigger bang.

Extremely excellent.

Good story but it was initially hard to listen to due to poor choice of voices for Decker. He is supposed to be a big brawny guy, but yet they made him sounds like a whining little college kid.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is a great book that will keep you wondering WHY until almost the end. You kind of know WHO dunnit, but who are they really? And WHY did they do it? I did figure it out before the end, but still wondered if I was right. It kept me guessing!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Fix?

Honestly, the opening scene with the initial shooting. It's so unexpected and I had all the same questions the main character did! I was in from go!

Which character – as performed by Kyf Brewer and Orlagh Cassidy – was your favorite?

I cracked up every time Harper Brown entered the scene. I loved her accent and could just picture her dead-pan facial expressions, tough-girl exterior with a soft-spot interior. Was happy how things worked out for her in the end.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

You know WHO dunnit, but WHY?

Any additional comments?

I really liked having both a male and female voice and their various accents really made the different characters come alive!

I real WHY dunnit!
