Ten years ago, Mona, Rene and Dawn were the most popular friends at Finley High School. Everyone knew they would remain kindred spirits forever, but after graduation the real world lured them in three different directions. The trio has little contact until their high school reunion. The girls, now women, are instantly inseparable again, but broken promises linger like ghosts from the past. An attempt to recapture the hope and innocence of their youth leads the ladies down a road of discovery that is sometimes hilarious, sometimes sensual, other times dark and painful. What they thought was their simplest vow; to live love to the fullest, is no easy task for the Finley sisters.

The girls looked out onto the waters, and something clicked in Rene’s head.

“We made a vow,” she said. “We promised to always be friends forever.”

“I remember that,” Mona said, her smile big and toothy. “We said no matter what happened, we would always be there for each other.”

Rene chuckled and then looked away uneasily. “Guess we kinda forgot about that.”

“It’s not too late,” Mona said. “We’re here for each other now. We can still keep that promise, if we want.”

“I want to,” Dawn said right away.

“Me too,” Rene said. Mona laughed.

“Man, look at us! We sound like a Toni Morrison book.”

“The Ya-Ya Sisterhood!” Rene said, and she laughed too.

“Wait,” Dawn said with a finger in the air. “I got something else…” She giggled.

“What?” Mona asked.

“We made another promise that night,” Dawn said. “Actually, it was more like an oath…”

“Aw shit,” Mona said.

“What?” Rene said.

“You don’t remember?” Dawn asked.

“No,” Rene said. “Tell me.”

“The Oath of Romance,” Mona recalled, and Rene’s eyes widened.

“Whoa,” Rene said. The breeze stirred softly through her hair. “I hadn’t thought about that in years.”

“Me neither,” Dawn said.

“So, who fulfilled that one?” Mona asked. “Which one of y’all lived love to the fullest?”

“Don’t look at me,” Rene said and lowered her gaze. “What about you?”
