love it took my time finishing did not want to finish the book I wish I could go forever the relationship between Raven and Victor are amazing the last book let us into this one it was very very good dinner either voice amazing very true talmud you knocked it out of the park

Not a whole lot of Victor but really good story. Victor is the best character in any story ever.

The best good “bad guy”

Mr. woods has created one of the most engaging bad guys in literature, and Mr Shapiro brings him to life amazingly well—what a great combination! Love the characters—especially Proctor, Raven, Alvarez, and hope Amazon or Netflix makes a tv series of the novels.

outstanding book and narrator

I've always liked Tom Wood's books, but this is the first time I listened to one of his books in English. Rob Shapiro is. a master, the best narrator I have ever heard.

Had to fight through this book.

Love this series, but this one was tough to get through. Performance was excellent, but the book was very slow. Not Mr.Woods best work. I won't be keeping this one.

A bit of fuller in the end

I was surprised by the smooth flow of the story. in previous books the story was an endless stream of violence and death. this one had its share but there was always a clear reason for the death.
(spoiler alert)
the ending was beautiful and well thought out. the only flaw was instead of a couple paragraphs of fuller it would have been purduent for Raven to seek her revenge. she didn't and it seemed as though the author was in a hurry and forgot to include it.
the narrator was excellent as always. without his performance the story would have suffered greatly.

Better than The Darkest Day, but not the best

This is book 7, picking up where book 5 left off--Victor left rival Raven dying of some unknown poison. As he goes off to work in book 6, she is recuperating in the hospital. This book is half about her. And someone is out to get them both. And she, like any good Bond girl falls in love with him, but Victor is a sociopath and cannot love anyone. The only reason we keep coming back, is that he does have some principles, some values. If not for those, he would be utterly despicable.

The story is, nevertheless, exciting and engaging, with Rob Shapiro doing his usual fantastic job of providing voices.

Another home run!

I love this series and will never get enough. Of the whole genre, it's the best series in my opinion. The writing is very clever and witty. If you love the Gray Man or Orphan X, then try this, but you should read the others first, especially A Time to Die to understand some of the background for this one. Enjoy.
